North Myrtle Beach is brimming with history - as an early home to the Waccamaw Indians, a hideout for Blackbeard's pirates, the birthplace of the Shag, and survivor of multiple hurricanes. Today, our friendly city and the surrounding Grand Strand make up one of the nation's top vacation and relocation destinations.

At Thomas Real Estate, Inc. we have our own amazing journey. From a one-room office, we’ve grown to multiple North Myrtle Beach locations offering a host of services. Mildred Thomas started Thomas Realty in 1962. According to Hank Thomas, her son and today’s broker-in-charge, “There were seven children in our family. My mother had to do something or we would have starved to death.”

 

Mrs. Thomas was one of the first women in the state to be in the real estate business and she quickly set out to make her mark. In fact, she sold the parcel of land on which the first condominium was built in this area. That pivotal event was a precursor to the condominium boom and the rapid expansion of sky-rise hotels and resorts in North Myrtle Beach. In 1979, Hank took over the business, maintaining a strong commitment to clients, employees and community.

“My mother taught me a great deal about business,” said Hank. “However, probably the most important things I learned were her work ethic and her commitment to the customers.”

Before long, we diversified the business and began offering vacation rentals – providing visitors from across the nation a little piece of North Myrtle Beach during their stay. Today, Thomas Beach Vacations has approximately 420 homes, villas and condominiums on the vacation rental program.

We started offering custom golf vacation packages in 1989 to accommodate the growing number of golfers visiting the Myrtle Beach area and to increase rental income for our homeowners in the spring and fall shoulder seasons. We soon added an annual rental program to help fill the demand for residential rentals in our area. In 2014, Thomas Real Estate, Inc. purchased the Beach and Company, which increased our supply of residential rentals and added Homeowner Association Management to our services.
